Troubleshooting
Here are the most common issues our customers face with answers.
Connectivity Issues
Below are some common problems and solutions when it comes to connecting the Beakle Bird House to your WiFi Router
I can’t find the birdhouse Wi-Fi network on my phone.
- Make sure the birdhouse is powered on and the antenna is securely attached.
- Wait up to 60 seconds after powering on for the birdhouse to broadcast its Wi-Fi Beakle-???? network.
- Stand within 10 feet of the birdhouse during setup.
- If you still can’t see it, restart the birdhouse by unplugging and plugging it back in.
The birdhouse isn’t accepting my Wi-Fi password.
Double-check the password (it’s case-sensitive).
Ensure you’re connecting to a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network — the birdhouse does not support 5GHz networks.
If your router has both 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands combined under one name (SSID), rename them in your router settings so you can choose the 2.4GHz network specifically.
The birdhouse connects but video keeps buffering or dropping.
- Place the birdhouse in a clear, elevated spot with fewer obstructions between the birdhouse and wifi router. Walls, trees, and other large objects can weaken the signal between the birdhouse antenna and wifi router.
- Try to keep the birdhouse within 150 ft of the router for best performance, even though it can reach up to 250 ft in ideal conditions.
- If the signal is weak, use a Wi-Fi range extender or mesh system closer to the birdhouse.
My birdhouse won’t connect if it’s too far from the router.
- The maximum distance is about 250 ft, but walls, trees, and fences reduce range.
- Position your Wi-Fi router’s antenna (if it has one) to point toward the birdhouse.
- Consider upgrading your router antenna to a high-gain SMA antenna or adding a Wi-Fi repeater outdoors.
I entered the wrong Wi-Fi details and can’t connect anymore.
- Reset the birdhouse by holding the reset button for 10 seconds until the LED blinks.
- The birdhouse will return to setup mode and broadcast the Beakle-???? network again.
Streaming/Video Issues
Below are some of are common issues with streaming.
I see the birdhouse in the app, but no video shows.
- Confirm the birdhouse is connected to your Wi-Fi network (check the app’s device status).
- Make sure your internet upload speed is at least 2 Mbps for smooth streaming.
- Restart the app and birdhouse, then try again.
The video is delayed or choppy.
- Ensure no one else is heavily using your Wi-Fi (gaming, streaming, large downloads).
- Confirm you have a stable Wi-Fi signal; low signal can force the stream to downgrade quality.
- Move the router or birdhouse antenna for better line of sight so theres less obstructions between the bird house antenna and the wifi router.
- Switch your phone off mobile data and onto the same Wi-Fi network as the birdhouse for local streaming.
Night vision isn’t working (camera stays dark at night).
- Make sure the birdhouse is powered on — the night vision LEDs won’t activate if power is unstable. Check for nearby artificial light sources (like a porch light) — strong lighting can prevent night vision from turning on.
- Restart the birdhouse; the night vision should auto-activate in low light.
- If the camera is still dark, reset the device and reconnect.
The video has a delay of several seconds.
- Some delay is normal due to Wi-Fi transmission and video processing.
- If the delay is excessive (over 5–10 seconds), check that no one else is using heavy bandwidth on your Wi-Fi.
- Move the birdhouse closer to your router or reduce obstructions and signal weakening.
- For the fastest streaming, make sure both your phone and birdhouse are connected to the same local Wi-Fi network.
Power Issues
Below are some common issues with powering the Beakle Bird House using either the solar panel or power bank.
The camera isn’t turning on at all.
- Check that the solar panel cable is securely connected to both the power bank and the camera. Make sure the power bank’s power indicator light is on — if not, recharge it indoors using the included charging cable.
- If using the optional 15,000 mAh extended power bank, confirm it’s fully charged and correctly seated inside its protective casing.
The solar panel doesn’t seem to be charging the bird house camera.
- Position the solar panel in direct sunlight. Only 3 hours of direct sunlight is usually enough to charge the system for up to 10 days.
- Wipe off dust, snow, or debris from the solar panel surface to maximize efficiency.
- Avoid shaded areas — trees, overhangs, or fences can block sunlight and reduce charging.
- If you live in a location with frequent cloud cover, or don't have a location on your property with direct sun exposure, consider using the 15,000 mAh extended power bank for more reliable performance.
The camera loses power too quickly.
- Confirm the camera is fully charged before installation. A full charge should last up to 10 days with solar panel support or 30 days with the 15,000 mAh bank accessory.
- Check that the solar panel is placed where it receives direct sunlight for several hours daily.
- Make sure the birdhouse isn’t drawing extra power (e.g., from frequent live-streaming sessions). Reducing unnecessary streaming can extend battery life.
The optional 15,000 mAh power bank won’t hold a charge.
- Ensure the bank was charged fully indoors before reconnecting it to the birdhouse. A full recharge typically takes a few hours.
- Check that the protective casing is sealed — exposure to moisture or extreme cold may affect performance.
- If the bank still drains unusually fast, test it by charging another device (like a phone) to confirm it’s working properly. Contact Beakle Support for a replacement if it’s defective.
The 15000 mAh power bank keeps shutting off when outside.
- Double-check that the bank is firmly connected to the birdhouse wiring. Loose connections can cause intermittent power loss.
- Verify the weatherproof casing is closed tightly — moisture or dirt in the charging port can cause shutdowns.
- In very cold weather, battery performance naturally drops. If possible, warm up the power bank indoors, recharge it, and reinstall it once it’s back to room temperature.
